Mr. Damian Arellanes

Damian Arellanes is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University, UK. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK in 2019 and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science from the same university. He also holds an MSc in Computer Science and a BEng in Computer Systems. His core research focuses on the area of software engineering for distributed systems and, more specifically, on software models for autonomous IoT systems. Due to his contributions in research and innovation, Damian has received a number of awards, including the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Internet of Things (ICIOT 2018), the Nick Sanders Kickstarter Fund (Masood Enterprise Centre), the second prize in the Next Big Thing competition (Manchester, UK) and the second prize for the Carole Goble Medal (The University of Manchester). He has served as a reviewer of internationally leading conferences and journals in the areas of distributed computing and software engineering, including the Springer Journal of Grid Computing, IEEE/ACM International Conference on Utility and Cloud Computing, the International Conference on Software Engineering and Formal Methods, the International Conference on Engineering of Complex Computer Systems, and the International Conference on Concurrency Theory.
